Tomorrow, March 8, is International Women’s Day. It is celebrated throughout the world in many different countries and is a day where women are recognized for their accomplishments, in whatever field or area they are.
It first was recognized in 1909 in the United States, after the Socialist Party of America created the day to honor a garment workers’ protest in 1908 where women had been striking against poor working conditions.
The following year, in 1910, The Socialist International met in Copenhagen that established a women’s day, to help build support for the women’s suffrage movement across the world. The day was created unanimously and was celebrated for the first time in 1911.
Now, it is transformed into a day to celebrate women, to think of the changes that have happened, and to continue to fight for equality.
Here at Rujo Handmade, we celebrate women not only tomorrow but every single day of the year. Our lives would not be the same without the strong and powerful women.
